# How customers submit asset bookings via the JSM portal

> Walkthrough showing how customers and employees raise asset booking requests through the Jira Service Management portal using Raley Bookman.

## Overview

Customers and employees make bookings through the **JSM customer portal** by submitting a service request. The Raley Bookman interface appears below the Summary field in the request form. No Jira license is required to make a booking.

## Step-by-Step Booking Process

### Step 1 — Open the Request Form

In the JSM customer portal, navigate to the request type configured for asset bookings (e.g., "Book a Meeting Room" or "Reserve a Company Car") and click **Raise a request**.

### Step 2 — Select an Asset

The Raley Bookman widget appears below the Summary field. You have two options:

* **Enter the asset key directly** — type the Jira issue key of the asset you want (e.g., `FAC-12`)
* **Click Find asset** — opens a search screen displaying all available assets matching the configured JQL or AQL filter

Select the asset you want to book.

### Step 3 — Review Existing Reservations

Once an asset is selected, the widget displays all current reservations for that asset in **Calendar** or **List** view.

* **Calendar view** — shows reserved time slots highlighted in red
* **List view** — shows booking details and links to the corresponding JSM tickets

Review the calendar to find an available time slot.

### Step 4 — Set Booking Dates

Enter the **Booking from** and **Booking to** dates and times using the date picker.

**If Booking Durations are configured:** Select a duration from the dropdown — the "Booking to" time is calculated automatically based on your start date.

**If a CRON schedule is configured:** Only valid start times as defined by the CRON expression are selectable.

### Step 5 — Conflict Check

Before you can submit, Raley Bookman automatically checks whether the asset is already reserved for the requested time period. If a conflict exists, you'll see a message that the asset is unavailable and must choose a different time.

### Step 6 — Submit the Request

Click **Send** (or **Submit**) to create the JSM ticket. The booking details (asset, start time, end time) are stored with the ticket.

You can view your booking ticket in the JSM customer portal under **My Requests**.

## Cancelling a Booking

To cancel a booking, open the original JSM request ticket in the customer portal and use the standard JSM request cancellation option. Raley Bookman will release the asset reservation when the ticket is cancelled.
